Nara City is rich in nature and historical buildings, making it a popular area for sightseeing trips and school trips.
Hakushikaso is easily accessible, just a 2-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station.
There are many World Heritage Sites scattered around the area, and it is also close to Nara Park, making it a very convenient location to use as a base for sightseeing in Nara.

    • Approximately 20 minutes on foot

      Todai-ji

      This is a representative temple of the Nara period, built in 743 by imperial order of Emperor Shomu.
      Daibutsu-den, where the seated statue of Vairocana Buddha is enshrined as the "Great Buddha of Nara,"
      It is famous as the largest wooden building in the world.

      In 1998, it was registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the "Cultural Property of Ancient Nara."
      Daibutsu-den grounds are lined with numerous national treasure buildings, including the Great Buddha Hall, the Tengaimon Gate, the Hokkedo Hall, the Great South Gate, the bell tower, and Nigatsu-do, which was rebuilt during the Edo period.
      The Omizutori Buddhist ceremony at Nigatsu-do has been held continuously since the 4th year of Tenpyo Shoho (752).

      Kohfukuji Temple

      It is an ancient temple that represents Nara and is also registered as a World Heritage Site.
      It houses numerous national treasures and important cultural properties, including a five-story pagoda and an Ashura statue.
      The illuminated five-story pagoda at night takes on a fantastical appearance that is different from that during the day.

      Kasugataisha Shrine

      Kasugataisha Shrine was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 as one of the "Cultural Monuments Cultural Property of Ancient Nara."
      Not only is the shrine building beautifully painted in vermilion, but the sight of the approximately 3,000 lanterns lined up is also a must-see.
      Every February and August, the "Mantoro" event is held, in which all the lanterns in the temple grounds are lit.

      Sarusawa Pond

      Sarusawa Pond, one of the Eight Views of Nara, is a famous scenic spot in Nara Park.

      Gangoji Temple

      The oldest temple in Japan, Hoko-ji Temple (Asuka-dera Temple), which was founded by Soga no Umako in the Asuka region, was moved to Heijo-kyo.
      The temple's name was changed to Gangoji Temple.
      It is registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the cultural heritage Cultural Property of Ancient Nara.

      Nara Park

      This is a prefectural park in Nara City with a total area of approximately 660 hectares.
      The park is home to Nara National Museum, Todai-ji, Kohfukuji Temple, Kasugataisha Shrine, and more.

      This is a spot where you can feel relaxed with its rich nature and many deer.

      Nara Palace Site

      Heijo Palace is the Imperial Palace of Heijokyo, which is said to have been modeled after Chang'an Palace in the Tang Dynasty.
      The Suzaku Gate, restored in 1998, shines a vibrant vermilion color over Nara Palace Site.
      In the same year, it was registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the "Cultural Monuments Cultural Property of Ancient Nara, " along with Todai-ji and other temples.

      Toshodaiji Temple

      It is known as the head temple of the Ritsu sect, founded by the monk Ganjin.
      It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1998, and the temple grounds are home to numerous national treasures.

      Mount Wakakusa

      Wakakusayama is a triple-mountain covered with grass in Nara Park.
      At the summit, 342 meters above sea level, is the historic site of Uguisuzuka Kofun, which is said to have been constructed around the 5th century.
      You can see all the way from Kyoto to Nara, so you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic night view at night.

      Yakushiji Temple

      It was built in Asuka as an official temple by Emperor Tenmu.
      As one of the Seven Great Temples of Nara, it is the head temple of the Hosso sect along with Kohfukuji Temple.
      Yakushiji Temple is made up of eight large buildings, including the East Pagoda, West Pagoda, Main Hall, and Garan.
      The illuminated East and West Towers are particularly famous.

      Horyuji Temple

      Horyuji Temple is a temple associated with Prince Shotoku located in Ikaruga Town, Nara Prefecture.
      It is said to have been built during the Asuka period, and the main hall, five-story pagoda, and other wooden structures said to be the oldest in the world are still carefully preserved.
      Within the temple grounds, there is also the Yumedono Hall, which commemorates Prince Shotoku, and the Daihozoin Temple, which houses precious treasures such as the Baekje Kannon statue and the Tamamushi Shrine.
      The charm of this place is its calm atmosphere, where you can take a leisurely stroll while learning about history.
      It is loved by many people as a place where you can experience the tranquility of the past as the seasons change.

      Our hotel is approximately a 5-minute bus ride from JR Nara Station.
      It takes approximately 15 minutes by train from JR Nara Station to JR Horyuji Station.
      We recommend taking a bus or taxi (approximately 5 minutes) from JR Horyuji Station.
